Just over a month ago Tyler got a huge splinter in his shin. see HERE
Well, we thought it was over and done with, until this showed up about 10 days ago.
So, I headed to the Radiology Dept. at The Children's hospital for an ultrasound on his leg. They confirmed their was a "foreign body" still in there. The Interventional Radiologist came in and we decided that since the other boys were already at home with some friends, to go ahead and remove it right then and there. So, they gave him a Lidocaine shot in 3 different spots to numb it up(this was the only time he complained) The Doctor then made a small incision and using the ultrasound probe to see the splinter, pulled it out with a small clamp. It was HUGE, over another inch long!! No one could believe how big it was. The first piece we removed was over 1 1/2 inches long, so add it to this piece and that is one painful splinter. Tyler was a trooper, he asked to sit up so he could watch the whole thing! One of our good friends happens to be a nurse in the Radiology dept, and she came to hang out with us, she took the pictures, and it was so nice to have her there with us. At the end, she brought Tyler a treat bag, then on the way home we stopped for a Frosty.(this was his reward for being so brave, however when we were in line to order, he asked if we could also get one for Conner, always so thoughtful) It is healing wonderfully, and we are grateful to all of those who helped out that day.
I am sure having boys will provide many more adventurous stories

nice. poor boy!
Holy cow...I remember part 1 of the story. Sad there was a part 2 though.
poor guy! Glad he was a trooper!
Ouch! What a tough kid. That looks like it'd hurt lots! How are you guys doing? Loving Ohio? Are you planning on staying there or are you heading back to colorado when residency is over? Oh moving for school is starting to get old to me. I think it's because I've got 4 kids. More kids equals more work! Haha! We've moved 4 times. Crazy! Hope you guys are doing well! Take care!
Yikes! What a brave little trooper!
